Note: These instructions are for most trainings. If you have a trainer other than David Kolko or Barbara Baumann, check with your trainer before submitting audio as they may have another procedure to follow. If you are submitting audio for fidelity review (i.e., for certification purposes), please make sure to pay for fidelity review before you submit your file.
Before You Record
Recording Devices
Before you begin recording session audio, please take time to consider what device you plan to use for recording. A digital voice recorder that can connect to a computer via USB cable is highly recommended. Your digital audio recorder should record audio in one of the following formats: WAV, WMV, MP3, or VOC. Try not to use the highest quality setting on the recorder if there is an option as it will increase the file size, which will make uploading times longer.
Recordings may also be made on smartphones, iPads, or other similar devices, but using these may present security issues due to always being connected to the internet. Uploading audio files from Android phones and iPads is similar to uploading from a pc; iPhones may require the use of iTunes or other software to first transfer the file to a pc and uploading from there.
Audio or Video?
You may upload video files, but due to the increased file size there may be issues with uploading. Generally, files over 500MB in size may be difficult to upload. Larger files can be uploaded by splitting them into smaller parts. As with audio files, it is recommended using a lower quality setting to reduce the file size.
Before You Upload
- If your system at work does not allow you to browse to where you have the audio file, you can try copying the file from the recorder to another computer, such as a laptop or a home computer to do the upload.
- Before uploading a file, please follow these instructions:
- Name your file in a way that conveys the practitioner featured in the audio file, the date of the session, the topic of the session, and the language of the session; e.g., "LastName-11NOV2015-Topic5-Eng.mp4". Please don’t use commas or apostrophes in the file name.
- E-mail your trainer to let them know the name of the file you are uploading, the practitioner featured in the audio file, the topic of the recorded session, and the language of the session.

Troubleshooting
Upload Times Out
If the upload times out before finishing, wait a bit and try again. If possible, try uploading from another PC in the office. If the upload continues to fail, have someone from your IT department check the network connection speed; a slow connection may make the upload process timeout before it finishes.
Error Message
If you get an error message during the upload, please send us a screen shot of the error message so that we can try and determine what is causing the error.
