October 2025 Japan Training
In October 2025, a AF-CBT training session was held at Taisho University in Japan. Thirty-one participants attended, primarily psychologists working at child guidance centers across Japan. All participants actively engaged, and the AF-CBT philosophy — which respects family autonomy and emphasizes collaborative relationships with families — was positively received.

October 2025 NCA Training
In October 2025, a live virtual AF-CBT training session was held by NCA Institute for Better Mental Health Outcomes, led by Ashley Fiore. 23 learners took part in the training.
AFP Training in Wilson County, North Carolina
The Alternatives for Profesionals (AFP) team at the University of Pittsburgh has conducted an AFP training with 30 providers at Wilson County Department of Social Services. Learners reinforced skills for engaging with families involved with the mental health, juvenile justice, and child welfare system.

Cultural Adaptation Supplements Coming Soon
The AF-CBT team at the University of Pittsburgh has conducted stakeholder discussion groups to develop treatment adaptations and recommendations for applying AF-CBT with Latin American and Spanish speaking as well as African American and Black families. These adaptations will soon be made available on the Session Guide and Handouts page.

Work Groups Meet to Enhance AF-CBT's Cultural Responsiveness
The Pitt AF-CBT team met with Isa I Velez Echevarria in October 2024 to discuss adaptations of AF-CBT for Latin American and Spanish-speaking families. We appreciate Isa and Eunice Torres’s work and expertise as they lead clinician workgroups dedicated to making AF-CBT more broadly applicable.

Meeting With the AF-CBT Japan Team
AF-CBT national trainers from Pittsburgh and Japan had a chance to meet for lunch in Tokyo. It was a wonderful chance to share training and clinical ideas and challenges. AF-CBT is fortunate to have strong leadership in Japan where an annual AF-CBT training takes place.
